The Re-Design of the MESSENGER BAG
The name FREITAG has been a synonym for messenger bags since the two graphic design students Daniel and Markus Freitag cut their first bag from recycled truck tarpaulin 25 years ago. Their then interpretation of the messenger bag is now called F13 TOP CAT and can also be admired at the MoMa in New York. Many further well-known FREITAG models such as the later ultra-classic and uni-coloured R511 CAROLUS are of the same bag typology.
The FREITAG brothers asked Industrial Design (BA) students from the ZHdK about their interpretation of the messenger bag of tomorrow. Concept ideas will be shown alongside drafts, sketches of designs and experiments with material from the current joint project The Re-Design of the FREITAG Messenger Bag.
