Per-Forming Clouds: In Search for the Perfect Cloud
In this material-led workshop we are investigating into new performative interactions with complexity through a sensual focus on form-giving and language production. In the first step, we will investigate in water vapour as a seemingly familiar part of air, yet foreign medium, in different cloud chambers. What is the materiality of the air we share and breath all the time? The participants look on their traces in that material, on the tools and methods to capture it, to highlight its lively and mutable qualities. What can the material here teach us about complex correlations? In the second step, we will start hands-on on an individually chosen scale-level, whilst vapour becomes a coating agent on receptive micro-structures, a carrier of culinary flavours, a framework for social relations or simulators for extraterrestrial weather conditions. The gaseous, cloudy agent will impose its own rules, while being playfully transformed by heating, cooling, moisturising in order for designing desired terrains. We will find out, which strange inventive imagery can emerge out of that process. In the third step, we will discuss and explore models of coexistent relations, production, distribution and consumption, through performative situating, imagery and narratives. We will enact new space logics. But how can these logics be described, might its material agent be oscillating, vibrant or volatile?
